On Wednesday, March 2, DELMIC’s SECOM application specialist, Lennard Voortman, hosted an introductory webinar on how to use a correlative light and electron microscopy system.

In the webinar, Lennard outlined the relevance of CLEM in the life sciences, as well as some of the challenges such as overlaying images and retrieving regions of interest. Ultimately, an integrated CLEM system, and especially a high-performance system as the SECOM, is a very effective tool for overcoming these challenges.

Subsequently, we explored the various applications for CLEM in the life sciences. This included the study of short events in time, localizing a “needle in a haystack”, and multicolored labelling. Ultimately, integrated CLEM is an extremely versatile solution for combing the contextual information obtained with a SEM, with the labelling power of FM.

We were very pleased with the high turnout of researchers who are interested in benefiting from the high efficiency of CLEM. More informative webinars related to CLEM as well as cathodoluminescence imaging will be organized shortly. Soon we will also be publishing a video of the webinar for anyone who was unable to attend.
