The Copenhagen program will feature a talk from Paul Verkade of the University of Bristol. He will talk about applications of high pressure freezing of GFP transfected cells. With his strong background in EM, Dr Verkade has set up a new EM unit as part of the Wolfson Bioimaging Facility, a fully integrated light and electron microscopy centre. Bristol colleague, Dr Kenton Arkill, will then give a complementary presentation on the direction CLEM is developing including probe development, volume imaging and integrated systems. This will be supplemented by a talk on high pressure freezing from Leica Microsystems who join Delmic and Phenom World as co-sponsors of the event. The afternoon will be filled with hands-on sessions given by Delmic & Phenom-World, Leica and the CFIM.
The London workshop will also be a combination of talks and hands-on sessions. The morning will comprise a series of lectures from leading microscopists from the Francis Crick Institute and King's College London. These will be of general interest and open, free of charge, to all. The talks will look at several stages of workflow: from sample preparation through to image processing and analysis. In the afternoon, there will be smaller hands-on sessions for users of Electron Microscopy, Light Microscopy and/or correlative microscopy, to get experience with the new Delphi system, the SECOM as well as the Phenom ProX.
