Characterization of GaAs nanowires for solar cells with cathodoluminescence: what you will learn during the upcoming workshop

September 30, 2019

Our invited speaker at the upcoming workshop in Berlin, David Lindgren, PhD, has a lot to share about his expertise in characterizing the optical properties of semiconductors. Delmic talked with him to give you a sneak peek of his presentation on the 21st of November.

David has worked as a senior engineer at Sol Voltaics, a start-up which produced solar cells out of nanowires with a new technique called Aerotaxy. His PhD was dedicated to optical characterization of III-V semiconductors for different components like LEDs and solar cells. It allowed him to expertly manage cathodoluminescence and photoluminescence systems and perform fundamental research looking at impurities of materials and defects that could be related to malfunction of components.

Webinar 'Analytical SEM Solutions for Geology' is now available

September 27, 2019

If you couldn't join our workshop Analytical SEM for Geology in January, which was organised together by Delmic, Bruker, Hitachi and University of Oslo, you now have a chance to watch all the presentations online. We invite you to watch the recording of the webinar, which consists of two parts: Part I is dedicated to SEM combined with X-ray microanalysis (EDS) technique, which is great for understanding morphology and microstructure of materials. You can access it here.

New database of interaction volumes for commonly studied materials

September 26, 2019

While using cathodoluminescence imaging to study various materials can be extremely insightful, the spatial extent of the electron beam interaction with the material is not always clear. This is important if one is seeking to study particular features in a material. Moreover, by varying the electron energy it is possible to access various depths and obtain (coarse) 3D information.
